NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Better Mobile Security, Inc. (BETTER), the first company to offer real time advanced endpoint security for iOS from zero-day and targeted advanced persistent threats (APT), has closed a $1.5 million seed round led by the New York Angels and participation by Harvard Business School (HBS) alumni angels and other leading investors. On Friday, BETTER released a demonstration video and blog on how its solution detects and prevents Masque attacks.

“Last week marked the beginning of a new era in iOS security with both Palo Alto Networks® PANW (“WireLurker” malware) and FireEye, Inc. FEYE (“Masque” attacks) identifying the requirement for real time mobile threat detection and prevention,” said Senai Ahderom, Founder and CEO of BETTER. “We provide a comprehensive platform for both iOS and Android, and it is available now. With the demanding security requirements in industries such as healthcare, retail, financial and other enterprise segments we anticipate high adoption and rapid deployment rates for mobile security solutions such as those provided by BETTER.”

In their announcement regarding Masque attacks, FireEye told the public that the only way to prevent this type of attack was to not install anything from an unknown source. While that is one way, which requires the user to be fully aware of app updates and their authenticity, it is not the only way. Both FireEye and Palo Alto Networks approach the problem from a network-security architecture viewpoint like their legacy products. However, in order to prevent advanced mobile attacks in real time, the protection must continually run on the device itself; an endpoint security architecture. With BETTER, companies won't have to worry if apps downloaded are malicious. The software will identify any suspicious behavior and keep the device and data fully protected.

BETTER's executive team is comprised of veterans of enterprise security. Azi Cohen, the Co-Founder and Executive Chairman, was Co-Founder and CEO of Eurikify that was acquired by CA Technologies, and VP Security Strategy, CA Technologies, and Board of Advisors at Commtouch CTCH. Barry X Lynn is former Chairman and CEO of 3Tera, the Cloud Computing pioneer, acquired by CA in 2010. Senai Ahderom is the Co-Founder and CEO of BETTER and an innovator in the mobile security industry. Prior to co-founding BETTER, Mr. Ahderom led a consulting firm that developed large scale enterprise solutions.
