Jeff Hoffman and Schlumberger to be Honored at the CRDF Global 2014 Annual Awards Gala November 12

“Empowering Innovators” event highlights international collaboration in science and entrepreneurship.

CRDF Global announced today its 2014 Annual Awards Gala honorees. Jeff Hoffman, founder of Priceline.com, uBid.com and ColorJar, will receive the 2014 George Brown Award for International Scientific Cooperation, and Schlumberger Limited SLB will receive CRDF Global's inaugural Corporate Impact Award. The Annual Awards Gala dinner will be held November 12 at the Mayflower Renaissance Hotel in Washington, D.C. The theme is “Empowering Innovators.”

The first-ever CRDF Global Corporate Impact Award will recognize Schlumberger for its leadership in supporting research and development worldwide. Schlumberger is the leading supplier of technology, integrated project management and information solutions to customers in the oil and gas industry worldwide. Through its Schlumberger Foundation, an independent nonprofit entity that supports science, engineering and technology education, Schlumberger recognizes the link between science, engineering, technology, and socio-economic development.

Schlumberger partnered with CRDF Global beginning in 1998, as the company developed indigenous research capabilities and a trained workforce. The partnerships spanned oil and gas research, student scholarships, geophysical sciences and engineering, material and manufacturing sciences, chemical sciences and engineering and mathematical and computational sciences. Schlumberger's partnership with CRDF Global lasted more than 10 years, and had a significant impact on the company's ability to stay in-country while developing its future workforce.

This year's recipient of the George Brown Award for International Scientific Cooperation, Jeff Hoffman, has worked closely with CRDF Global as a member of the Global Innovation through Science and Technology (GIST) Initiative advisory council. Through GIST and other efforts, Hoffman has mentored entrepreneurs across the Middle East, Turkey, Asia and Africa. Hoffman serves on the boards of companies in the U.S., Europe, South America, Africa and Asia.
