Sponsorship reinforces Ashland's commitment to industry-wide innovation and collaboration.

Dublin, OH (PRWEB) October 09, 2014

Ashland Performance Materials, a global leader in resin chemistries and technology solutions for composite manufacturing, today announced that it has agreed to be exclusive sponsor of the inaugural 2014 CAMX Awards. The event, to be held October 13-16, 2014, in Orlando, Fla., will celebrate technological innovation in the $10 billion high-performance composites market in the United States.

“Ashland is proud to recognize the cutting-edge technology and innovators that are shaping the future of composites and advanced materials in many markets,” said Ted Harris, president, Performance Materials. “As an industry, we must continue to develop new products and applications to grow the composite landscape, and Ashland is committed in helping lead this charge.”

It has been another great year of innovation at Ashland. In recent months, the company launched several new products including: Arotran™ 770 TLM Series resins, which enable original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) and Tier 1 fabricators to make a tougher, lower-density Class A SMC; Modar™ 820TC fire-retardant resin for low-smoke, fire-retardant applications; and Aropol™ NLN 71800 unsaturated polyester resin providing a Class A finish and efficient processing for infused parts in any application.

“Ashland's composites technologies offer a number of compelling advantages when compared to traditional materials,” explains Andy Beer, leader, Composites, North America, Performance Materials. “We will continue to partner with entrepreneurs to develop new applications and inventions that contribute to overall market growth. There's tremendous interest in the composites story, and we're excited to outline some of these opportunities, such as through our sponsorship of the composite building materials web site CompositeBuild.com."

Ashland will host an opportunity to “meet the experts” in their booth at CAMX 2014 on Wednesday, Oct. 15. Among the industry champions on hand will be Ashland's Thom Johnson, an expert in the corrosion and fire-retardance markets, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m.; Laura Gigas for the transportation market from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.; and Bob Moffit, building and construction market, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m.

In addition, Ashland experts will lead three presentations at CAMX. Thom Johnson, corrosion and fire-retardant industry manager, will present “Design Engineers Depend on FRP for Corrosion Challenges in Chemical Processing” on Tuesday, Oct. 14, at 4:00 p.m. In addition, he will present “New Technology for Low Smoke Fire Retardant Composites” on Wednesday, October 15, at 1:00 p.m. Kevin Lambrych, who leads Performance Materials' wind program, will lead an educational session titled “Composite Towers for Floating Wind Turbines” on Wednesday, October 15, at 2:00 p.m.

Ashland representatives will join two panels of experts focused on safety and sustainability. On Wednesday, Oct. 15, at 8:00 a.m. Bruce Colley, product manager, Derakane™ and Hetron™ vinyl ester resins, will be part of the “Managing Hazards Associated with Thermoset Resins” panel discussion in room W224C and Bob Moffit, industry manager, Building & Construction, will participate in the “Designing for Composites Sustainability” panel in room W315A.

CAMX will be held October 13-16, 2014 at the Orange County Convention Center in Orlando, Fla. To learn more about Ashland and our products, please stop by CAMX booth #2147 or visit us at ashland.com/composites.
