MONTREAL, QUEBEC--(Marketwired - Oct. 25, 2014) - Le Journal de Montreal is pleased to share the results of the 2013/14 NADbank survey, which measured the readership levels of the main daily newspapers across the country from autumn 2013 to spring 2014. Once again, the results show that Le Journal de Montreal is and remains the Number 1 print daily, 7 days a week - a position it has held for 28 years running! Le Journal de Montreal's print edition attracts 1,082,800 readers a week, which is 300,000 more than its nearest competitor, a solid 38% lead (6/7-day cumulative).

Le Journal de Montreal has made gains among readers aged 18 to 34. In all, Le Journal de Montreal has 307,200 readers in the 18-34 age bracket, which is 19,800 more than last year (+7%). Le Journal de Montreal also has 366,800 readers in the highly sought-after market segment of executives, professionals, and white collar personnel, which is 66,600 more readers than its nearest competitor.

Number 1 on weekdays and Saturday

In addition to holding on to its Number 1 position among print editions on weekdays and Saturday, Le Journal de Montreal has made major gains among readers aged 25 to 34 on weekdays. Le Journal de Montreal has 93,900 readers in the 25-34 age bracket, which is 19,100 more than last year (+26%). In addition, Le Journal de Montreal is still Number 1 among 18-34 year-olds on weekdays with 116,800 readers, which is 49,000 more than its nearest competitor. Le Journal de Montreal is also Number 1 among 35-49 year-olds on weekdays with 113,900 readers, which is 30,300 more than its nearest competitor.

Even more visitors online!

Traffic on Le Journal de Montreal's web site has increased significantly by 58% since September 2013. In all, Le Journal de Montreal's web site attracts nearly 1.1 unique visitors every month(1).

As you know, Le Journal de Montreal underwent a major overhaul in autumn 2013, unveiling a new look and logo. Le Journal de Montreal took this opportunity to introduce several new online features for its readers, including new bloggers, enhanced content, and a stronger presence on social media. These extensive online changes resulted in a 327% increase in Facebook fans and a 36% increase in Twitter followers in less than a year.

Le Journal de Montreal, the newspaper people like to read, 50 years running!

This year, Le Journal de Montreal celebrates its 50th anniversary. To mark the event, Le Journal de Montreal published a series of 4 theme-based booklets this past spring that recount the newspaper's history in words and pictures. Le Journal de Montreal also provided its readers with a complete version of its inaugural edition published on June 15, 1964 - a fully restored, historical document taken from the newspaper's archives!
