Robert C. Norman joins PlainsCapital Bank as region chairman in the Rio Grande Valley. In this role, he will provide strategic direction and oversight of all core banking, lending and business development initiatives for PlainsCapital Bank in this market.

Having spent his entire life in the Rio Grande Valley, Norman has an extensive knowledge of this market and surrounding areas. With more than 30 years of experience in banking, Norman has proven expertise in lending, business development, profit and loss responsibility, labor relations, and community and customer relations.

Prior to joining PlainsCapital Bank, Norman held various positions at Texas State Bank and BBVA Compass including, executive vice president, Upper Valley president and regional president. He received a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from University of Texas-Pan American and attended the Southwestern Graduate School of Banking at Southern Methodist University.

As an active member of the local community, Norman serves as a board member and past chairman for both South Texas Higher Education Authority, Inc. and Mission Regional Medical Center. He is committed to giving back to the local community and has served as a board member for numerous organizations including, Greater Mission Chamber of Commerce, John Knox Villages of the Rio Grande Valley, Knapp Medical Center, Mission Boys and Girls Club, Rio Grande Valley Partnership, Texas Produce Association, Weslaco Bicultural Museum and Weslaco Economic Development. In addition, Norman previously served as commissioner for the City of Weslaco Planning and Zoning and as a board member and past chairman for Weslaco Chamber of Commerce.
