BENTONVILLE, Ark.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

More than half of women in the U.S. worry about the cost of healthcare and only 67 percent report having had a physical exam in the past year, according to The Futures Company.1 As part of an effort to celebrate women and encourage them to become more active in monitoring and maintaining their health, Sam's Club Pharmacies nationwide will host free women's health screenings to both members and non-members on Saturday, October 11 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The health screenings are free, confidential and available to the public at all Sam's Club locations with a pharmacy (599 locations). The screenings, valued at $2502, include tests for:

  • TSH (thyroid) testing – thyroid conditions can often affect a woman's overall health, including depression, weight and energy levels3
  • Blood pressure
  • Total cholesterol
  • HDL (good cholesterol)
  • Risk ratio
  • Glucose
  • Body mass index
  • Vision (not available in all locations)

“With the multitude of health challenges that are unique to women, it's important that we keep up with our health on a regular basis no matter how busy life may get,” said Tara Raddohl, director, Corporate Communications for Sam's Club. “These free health screenings make it easy for women to take a weekend errand and turn it into an important step in caring for their well-being.”

In addition to monthly health screenings, Sam's Club pharmacies provide savings and preventive care to each community it serves, such as year-round immunizations for adults ages 18 and above. Licensed pharmacists can administer walk-in flu shots and nine other important immunizations recommended to help protect against serious diseases like pneumonia, shingles and whooping cough. Sam's Club Plus members and Sam's Club Business members can also save 40 percent on many generics and 8 percent on name-brand prescriptions when not using prescription drug coverage. Further, through the Extra Value Drug List, Sam's Club Plus members can save even more with 10-30 percent savings on select brand prescriptions and over 200 generics at $11.87.** Restrictions may apply.
