FTI Consulting Appoints Nigel Churton as an International Senior Adviser in the Company's Global Risk and Investigations Practice

LONDON, Sept. 29, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- FTI Consulting, Inc. FCN, the global business advisory firm dedicated to helping organisations protect and enhance their enterprise value, today announced the appointment of Nigel Churton, Member of the British Empire ("MBE"), as an International Senior Adviser within the Company's Global Risk and Investigations Practice ("GRIP"). He will be based in London.

Mr. Churton has more than 30 years of experience providing counsel to clients on international affairs, security and commercial risks. He has developed pre-eminent security engineering and risk management security services in Europe, the Middle East and Africa ("EMEA") and Asia Pacific, where he gained experience in the identification and acquisition of specialist niche businesses. Mr. Churton also has extensive field experience specialising in intelligence and counter-terrorism activities, serving as an officer in the British Army for 11 years, for which he was awarded an MBE. In his new role, Mr. Churton will offer strategic guidance to clients across the EMEA region with respect to sustaining and protecting their business operations in challenging markets.

Mr. Churton joins FTI Consulting from Control Risks Group Ltd., an independent, global risk consultancy. Mr. Churton most recently served as Vice Chairman of the Company, a role where he directed large projects and client relationships and served as a liaison with governments, agencies and regulators. Previously, Mr. Churton served as Chief Executive Officer of Control Risks for 17 years, where he oversaw the global expansion of the business. Mr. Churton first joined Control Risks as a Consultant advising on corporate extortion and negotiation strategies.

Mr. Churton serves as Company Secretary of The Security Institute. He also served as Chairman of Cybyl Technologies, an internet intelligence surveillance company, from 2010 to 2013. Mr. Churton sat as a member of the Advisory Board to the Security Industry Authority from 2002 to 2004, and as a member of the Port of Logistics Board within the UK Department of Trade from 2001 to 2004. He is also a member and past President of the International Security Management Association, and served as Master of the Worshipful Company of Security professionals in 2011.

Mr. Churton has lectured extensively around the world on security-related problems including corporate extortion, issue management, crisis management, the problems of investing in emerging markets and other security-related crimes. He has also published a number of articles in trade publications and newspapers worldwide and has been interviewed on both radio and television during major corporate crime and world events. Mr. Churton has contributed to the scripting of the BBC television programme "Hypotheticals" and served as a panel participant.
