TEMPE, Ariz., Sept. 5, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Amtech Systems, Inc. ASYS, a global supplier of production and automation systems and related supplies for the manufacture of solar cells, semiconductors, and sapphire and silicon wafers, today announced its solar subsidiary, Tempress Systems, has received an order for its solar boron diffusion system from a leading Taiwan cell manufacturer, which makes it the third boron diffusion customer in that country.  The system will be used in an n-type, next generation high efficiency cell production line.

Mr. Fokko Pentinga, Chief Executive Officer of Amtech, commented, "We are the industry leaders in boron diffusion used in n-type cell processing with over 800MW installed in production, research and pilot lines.  This order further validates that leading solar cell manufacturers are looking to next generation n-type technology solutions to meet the market's need for lower cost and continuously higher efficiency solar cells and that our solar boron diffusion system is considered a high-value technology solution.  In the last decade, Amtech has specialized in n-type technology and boron diffusion in particular, by developing unique processes and hardware. Our research and development team is continuously focused on advancing our technology solutions to meet the evolving requirements of our targeted market.  We are highly encouraged by many top-tier customers' interest in our n-type diffusion processing technology, and we continue to believe n-type cell technology will play a significant role in the growing future solar market."
