Ixia Selected to Verify Performance and Scale of Large Data Center Technologies

Ixia XXIA announced that its higher speed Ethernet test solutions were recently used to test and verify the performance of the Cisco Nexus® 7718 high density and high scale networking switch. Using Ixia's Xcellon-Multis® solution at the company's iSimCity large-scale proof-of-concept lab, independent test lab Miercom validated the switch's full scalability of up to 19.2 terabytes of stateful networking traffic across 192 100GbE ports.

The transition to 100GbE networking technologies is a necessary component of today's global service provider and large enterprise data centers, and the need for high speed Ethernet technologies that can scale and maintain performance against rapidly increasing bandwidth demands is critical. By using Ixia's network test solutions and iSimCity lab to test the Cisco Nexus 7718 switch at its full load and line rate, Miercom substantiated the scalability and performance by:

• Showcasing its ability to deliver over 38 Tb/s of bidirectional throughput by forwarding at line rate on all 192 of the switches 100GbE ports.
• Confirming that the Cisco switch can distribute real-world IPv4 and IPv6 multicast traffic at wire speed with each of its 191 receiver ports.
• Processing real-world MPLS traffic at line rate on all ports with no loss and low latency.
