MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Xcel Energy XEL has again earned a spot on the prestigious Dow Jones Sustainability Index (DJSI) for North America, one of the most recognized benchmarks worldwide for corporate sustainability.

“To be included in the Dow Jones Sustainability Index for the eighth year is an honor and validates that Xcel Energy is on the right track,” said Ben Fowke, chairman, president and CEO for Xcel Energy. “Our customers increasingly want clean energy and innovative options for meeting their needs. We strive to be the energy provider of choice by delivering those offerings safely, reliably, and at a great price. Our industry is rapidly changing and faces many challenges, but our commitment to providing affordable energy in an increasingly sustainable way will not change.”

In addition to the Dow Jones Sustainability Index, Xcel Energy was recently recognized as one of the top U.S. utilities for delivering renewable energy and energy efficiency to customers in a Ceres report Benchmarking Utility Clean Energy. This first-of-its-kind study compared the clean energy performance of 32 investor-owned utilities from around the country.

Overall Xcel Energy ranks No. 2 for renewable energy sales and No. 5 for energy efficiency savings. And for the past decade, the American Wind Energy Association has ranked Xcel Energy the No. 1 utility wind energy provider in the United States.
