Based in New York City, Inc. magazine was founded in 1979. Its monthly publication focuses on growing companies and the Inc. 5000 list ranks the country's top 5000 fastest-growing private firms. Companies are ranked according to percentage revenue growth over a three-year period and to qualify, a company must have been founded and generating revenue by the first week of the starting calendar year. Revenue in the initial year must have been at least $200,000 and revenue in the most recent year must have been at least $2 million.
