MORRISVILLE, N.C.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

SciQuest SQI, a leading provider of cloud-based business automation solutions for spend management, today announced that ten SciQuest customers representing academic institutions from across the country have been awarded the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award® (AEP) from the National Procurement Institute (NPI). In its nineteenth year, this program measures applicants based on innovation, professionalism, eProcurement, productivity and leadership.

Arizona State University, Collin County Community College District, Cornell University, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, George Washington University, the University of Iowa, the University of California, San Diego, the University of California, Riverside, the University of Florida and the University of Missouri were among the winners of the 2014 award.

“For universities, centralizing purchasing across several departments is the first step toward meeting efficiency goals,” said Stephen Wiehe, President and CEO of SciQuest. “It's great to see progressive institutions like those selected leveraging data from eProcurement to manage vendor relations, enhance sourcing capabilities and ultimately turn spend into savings.”

The 2014 program saw close to 200 recipients—representing a number of cities, higher education agencies, school districts, special districts and state agencies across more than forty countries.

In addition to NPI, the Achievement of Excellence in Procurement Award® is sponsored by the California Association of Public Procurement Officials (CAPPO(), Florida Association of Public Procurement Officials (FAPPO), the Institute for Supply Management (ISM), the Institute for Public Procurement (NIGP), the National Association of State Procurement Officials (NASPO), the National Association of Educational Procurement (NAEP), the Texas Public Purchasing Association (TxPPA) and the Canadian Public Procurement Council/Conseil Canadien des Marchès Publics (CPPC-CCMP).
