On Wednesday, July 23rd, AfterBuzz TV musical legend Weird Al Yankovic stopped by their studios with host Kylie Hodges for a special one-on-one interview of AfterBuzz TV Presents: Spotlight On. Yankovic is celebrating the news announced that his brand new album, “Mandatory Fun”, is the week's chart-topper on Billboard 200.

“Mandatory Tour” is the 14th album for the musician, and the last of his 32-year contract. In reference to his recent announcement that this is his last album, Yankovic discusses the music industry's shift away from albums, and the future of his music: “The album format just doesn't make sense for me anymore. We are moving more towards singles because people tend to be buying tracks instead of albums.”

Yankovic shares a laugh with Hodges saying that any artist could be subject to one of his parodies when he states, “there is nobody too sacred for my parodies.”

Another milestone this week for Yankovic is the 25th anniversary of his film, “UHF”, and the musician reveals, “there is something happening with UHF... but it is not a sequel”.

Setting the rumors straight about a Broadway musical in the works, Yankovic reveals to Hodges, “I'm working with some friends on possibly putting together a musical- I'm sort of sworn to secrecy, but that is an area I've been interested in for a few years and I've been given some opportunities and we'll see what happens.”

Weird Al also announces that he will hit the road with “The Mandatory Tour” in 2015. Yankovic says, “there is nothing happening this year…but next year we will be back on the road with a vengeance for the 'Mandatory Tour'. There is nothing confirmed yet but we will definitely be on the road and when tour dates are announced they will be on WeirdAl.com”
