The Standard Appoints Tom Foran Vice President of Underwriting and Product Development

PORTLAND, Ore.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Standard Insurance Company ("The Standard") today announced that Tom Foran has joined the company as vice president of underwriting and product development for the Employee Benefits Group.

Foran comes to The Standard from Symetra where he was vice president of Group Life and Disability. In 2006, Foran joined WellPoint as director and vice president of Product and Business Development. Before working at WellPoint, Foran was vice president of underwriting and Integrated Disability Resources, Inc., and regional director of large group underwriting and policy administration services at Hartford Life Insurance Company, a division of Hartford Financial Services Group.

Foran earned a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of Connecticut and attended the Business Excellence Program at the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University.

Tom has been an active volunteer in the disability community for over 35 years and is a five-time Paralympic medalist and former world record holder in wheelchair racing.

Foran started in his new role on July 21.
