NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Food.com, the third largest food site on the web, has launched a brand new mobile app of the same name. Featuring the site's immense library of 500,000 recipes, the Food.com app offers the ultimate in meal planning and shopping tools, as well as location-based grocery deals. At launch, the app is sponsored by McCormick, a leading manufacturer of spices, herbs and flavorings. It allows users to search and save recipes in a custom recipe box, build organized shopping lists and see what's on sale at local stores. Deal information is geo-fenced, giving users the ability to browse local circulars from within the app and see what's on sale in the context of their shopping lists.

The Food.com app adds function and fun to our suite of mobile products,” said Bob Madden, general manager and senior vice president of digital food properties for Scripps Networks Interactive, parent company of Food.com. “It delivers the features our users need when tackling the daily dinner challenge, both in the store and in the kitchen.”

Consumers are using their mobile phones more and more throughout the shopping process, from meal planning at home to the point of purchase in the store. The app provides grocery brands with an in-store shopper marketing program that's in line with changing consumer behavior.

“The Food.com app will offer unique native mobile advertising integrations and opportunities for our clients, beyond banner ads,” said Ann Lundberg, senior vice president of food digital ad sales for Scripps Networks. “For the consumer, it ties inspiration to action, closing the loop between planning at home and the 'moment of truth' in store.”
