HOUSTON, June 26, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- BBVA Compass hired veteran banker Everett Orrick to serve as its market president for Los Angeles, where he'll also be responsible for the bank's commercial banking activities in Orange County.

The Los Angeles location is new, and one of several loan production offices in the works following the bank's successful expansion of its commercial banking activities in California over the past three years. BBVA Compass has opened loan production offices across the United States in San Francisco, Seattle, Columbus, Ohio, and the North Carolina cities of Charlotte and Raleigh.

"We're pleased to have Everett lead our commercial banking team in Los Angeles," said Ron Smith, Western regional executive for Commercial Banking for BBVA Compass. "He has nearly three decades of experience and has worked in Southern California for the last decade. He's the right person to build and lead our local team as we grow our commercial banking presence in the Greater Los Angeles market and expand on our activities in Orange County."

The bank's permanent offices, which will open later this year, will be located on the 11th floor of 801 S. Figueroa St., in the city's financial district. The bank will employ commercial, corporate and private bankers, among others.

Orrick worked at several banks in California, most recently as a regional manager of Union Bank's corporate and middle market banking offices in both Los Angeles and the South Bay.

Orrick received his Masters of Business Administration and his Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from California State University, Sacramento. During his undergraduate program, Orrick spent one year studying international finance and economics at the University of Copenhagen. He also completed the Pacific Coast Banking School's three-year program at the University of Washington.
