Cops on Doughnut Shops Events to be held June 27-29 at participating Krispy Kreme Georgia locations

ATLANTA, June 24, 2014 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- For the 14th consecutive year, Krispy Kreme, in partnership with the Law Enforcement Torch Run® (LETR) for Special Olympics, will host the Cops on Doughnut Shops® fundraising event. This annual event brings local law enforcement and Krispy Kreme® Doughnut Shop patrons together to raise both funds for and awareness about Special Olympics Georgia.  Special Olympics is a movement dedicated to empowering individuals with intellectual disabilities through the power of sport. The Law Enforcement Torch Run® is the largest grass-roots fundraiser for Special Olympics and is comprised of over 90,000 law enforcement volunteers in the United States and Canada, and over 97,000 law enforcement volunteers participating worldwide.  Annually, this event takes place in over 10 U.S. states and this year, we anticipate expanding into the Canadian market.

Krispy Kreme Doughnuts is proud to continue the tradition of its support of local Special Olympics Programs, as a host of this event.  Each year, Cops on Doughnut Shops continues to draw impressive community support and media coverage. This year, the Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics hopes to raise over $150,000 in the United States.  Local law enforcement officers participating from across Georgia including Atlanta PD, MARTA PD, Marietta PD, Kennesaw PD, Gwinnett Co. SO, GBI, Riverdale PD, Lilburn PD, and Henry Co. SO will collect donations from customers as they visit participating Krispy Kreme Doughnuts.  The Law Enforcement Torch Run® for Special Olympics Georgia hopes to raise over $100,000 locally.  Customers who donate $5 or more will receive a sweet treat from Krispy Kreme.  For generous corporations, organizations or individuals donating $1000 or more, Krispy Kreme will host a complimentary doughnut party that will be coordinated by each respective location.
