ROSEMEAD, Calif.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

The California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC) will hold a community information meeting June 16 in Costa Mesa on the proposed San Onofre nuclear plant settlement agreement currently before the commission.

The proposed agreement was announced to the commission on March 27 by Southern California Edison (SCE), San Diego Gas & Electric, the state's Office of Ratepayer Advocates, consumer representatives and other parties to resolve all issues regarding the commission's investigation of San Onofre Units 2 and 3.

The purpose of the meeting is to review the terms of the settlement and to gather input from the public, including from the communities surrounding San Onofre. The presiding administrative law judge will open the meeting with an explanation of the terms of the settlement by the supporting parties, followed by a similar opportunity for opposing parties to explain their views. The remaining time (beginning about 4:45 p.m.) is dedicated to public inquiry and comment. Attendance is encouraged.

What:   Community Information Meeting
When: Monday, June 16, 4-7 p.m.
Where: Costa Mesa Neighborhood Community Center
1845 Park Avenue, Costa Mesa

In November 2012, the commission opened an investigation (I1210013) into the extended outages of both nuclear generating units at San Onofre. Over the past 18 months, the commission has received evidence and argument on a range of issues related to associated costs. However, not all issues have been heard, nor has any final decision been issued.

SCE announced June 7, 2013 that it would retire San Onofre Units 2 and 3, and begin preparations to decommission the facility. For more information about the settlement, visit the CPUC website's list of documents in the investigation, and specifically the motion asking the commission to adopt the settlement which was filed on April 3.
