ThinkGeek Awards title of Geekiest Campus to RIT

FAIRFAX, Va., May 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- For the first time ever, ThinkGeek.com set out on a Quest for the Geekiest Campus in the country. The national search yielded entries from over 250 schools, but one school prevailed over all others to be named the victor. ThinkGeek is proud to announce that the Rochester Institute of Technology (RIT) is the company's first Geekiest Campus.

ThinkGeek, which has been around for 15 years, challenged students to submit a brief 200-word description along with three photos that showed why their school should win the Quest for the Geekiest Campus.

"We wanted to see how students from all over the country geek out and which school is doing it more than any other," states ThinkGeek Senior PR Manager Steve Zimmermann. "The folks from RIT submitted a ton of amazing entries and when it came down to it, they earned the victory and this year's title."

Aside from just the title, RIT won a geek-themed trivia night hosted by ThinkGeek that was replete with prizes and swag for its 150 attendees, and an exclusive discount code for every student on campus.

The Quest for the Geekiest Campus saw such a tremendous turn out that ThinkGeek plans on making it an annual event. "We're not looking to celebrate the best party school, the school with the hottest coeds, or even the most academically rigorous school. What ThinkGeek is celebrating are the students and schools who embrace their geek passions in unique and amazing ways."
