HAMDEN, Conn. & LANSING, Mich.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

TransAct Technologies Incorporated TACT (“TransAct”), a global leader in market-specific solutions, including printers, terminals, software and other products for transaction-based and other industries, announced today a partnership with Neogen Corporation NEOG (“Neogen”) pursuant to which TransAct will offer Neogen's AccuPoint® ATP (adenosine triphosphate) Sanitation Monitoring technology as an option on its innovative new Ithaca® 9800 food safety terminal.

Bart C. Shuldman, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of TransAct Technologies, commented, “We are excited to partner with Neogen and provide restaurant and foodservice operators with the option to add their industry-leading AccuPoint ATP Sanitation Monitoring System to our new Ithaca 9800 food safety terminal. As an easy-to-use solution for the verification of kitchen sanitation, integrating AccuPoint with the Ithaca 9800 is a natural choice as it makes the terminal a one-stop shop for food safety in the kitchen and food preparation workflow. We believe the combined solution will be extremely attractive to potential customers, further enhancing the long-term addressable market opportunity for the Ithaca 9800 and making the terminal a standard product in restaurants' back-of-house operations.”

Through the partnership, TransAct and Neogen are offering direct integration of the innovative Ithaca 9800 food safety terminal and Neogen's AccuPoint ATP Sanitation Monitoring System. The AccuPoint technology allows food service operators to test food production surfaces after they've been cleaned to measure the effectiveness of that cleaning. The combined device will store and display critical data (including test site name, number, group, as well as the time and date the test was taken) and log test results to enable the real-time verification of sanitation effectiveness, offering a streamlined solution that ensures the cleanliness of food contact surfaces and food processing equipment. Since ATP is present in all living cells, ATP measurement has become the de facto standard for determining the amount of organic material remaining on a surface after cleaning. Using the detection capabilities of the AccuPoint, restaurant and food service operators will have direct access to this powerful technology used by industry restaurant inspectors to ensure cleanliness. Operators will also be able to implement testing schedules into their cleaning programs, executing regularly-timed tests in various areas of their facility, ensuring their programs' effectiveness, and guaranteeing consistency throughout their operations.

“Neogen is pleased to work with TransAct to provide rapid sanitation solutions in an easy-to-use module as part of the Ithaca 9800 food safety terminal,” said Dr. Jason Lilly, Neogen's vice president of corporate development. “Partnering with TransAct is a logical extension of our mission to help ensure the safety and quality of food, as it enhances our access to restaurants and foodservice markets.”

About the Ithaca 9800 Food Safety Terminal

The Ithaca 9800 is the industry's first terminal to offer direct Internet connectivity via Ethernet and Wi-Fi, enabling it to interface directly with some of the industry's most widely used restaurant management solutions, allowing operators to more closely monitor and manage their perishable food inventory, further cutting down on food waste and reducing inventory cost across the business. Through its large 9.7 inch color touch screen display, the Ithaca 9800 features full video capabilities, enabling users to download videos and other multimedia content directly from the Internet to the terminal for training or demonstration purposes.

Designed from the bottom up to fully automate the process of food preparation and labeling, the new Ithaca 9800 features a large, easy-to-read display, flexible two printer configuration with print widths of up to 2.2 inches and multi-language capabilities that allow for use in foodservice operations worldwide. Users can print a wide variety of information – including food rotation labels, ingredient lists, calorie counts, and “grab-and-go” times courtesy of an accurate internal clock – and even virtually all bar codes on any number of label types – including permanent, freezer grade, dissolvable and removable labels. The Ithaca 9800 adds on-screen editing capabilities to its existing PC-based companion utility, further improving flexibility of use.

Intended for direct integration into the food preparation workflow, the Ithaca 9800 carries a streamlined footprint with recessed power switch to reduce accidental contact, save physical space, and reduce susceptibility to spillage in the kitchen. It also has a modular design that eases access to the print head and internal systems for cleaning and easy label loading. Furthermore, the terminal will offer a variety of third party food safety peripheral applications to increase functionality beyond printing and allow operators to streamline the total number of devices in use in their kitchens.
