SARASOTA, Fla.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

One of the biggest names in mobile gaming says that microtransactions and the free-to-play (F2P) business model are the future of video games, and OBJ Enterprises OBJE is working to ensure that their new products will be at the forefront of that transition.

Last week, Tommy Palm, CEO of Candy Crush Saga developer King Games, told IGN that the “microtransaction is so strong and it's definitely a much better model,” concluding that “all companies have to transition over to that.”

The Guardian reported last month that 93 million people are playing Candy Crush Saga more than 1 billion times a day, making it one of the most popular video games of all time. The game is free to download and play, but generates revenue through in-app purchases of extra moves, lives and power-ups. In the last three months of 2013 alone, players spent $493 million on these microtransactions.

It's a highly successful business model that OBJE plans to follow closely with future releases.

“Our business model moving forward for our Novalon Games brand will be on creating new games and optimizing existing ones to replicate the free-to-play model of Candy Crush and other breakout mobile hits.”

The company is already partnering with fledgling gaming studios to release hot new titles for smartphones and tablets. The company earned its first revenues last year by releasing new games including Phantasmic, Bluff Wars and Creature Tavern, with plans for more new releases in 2014.

Through its gaming division, Obscene Interactive, OBJE is working to deliver innovative and engaging gaming products for the Apple AAPL App Store and Google GOOG Play market alongside companies such as Glu Mobile Inc. GLUU and The9 Limited NCTY.
