NEWARK, N.J.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Prudential Fixed Income has hired a new senior portfolio manager for its investment grade corporate bond team and added an economist with expertise in Latin America to its global macroeconomic research team, the company announced today. Prudential Fixed Income, among the largest U.S. fixed income managers, is a business of Prudential Financial, Inc. PRU.

Filippo Arcieri has joined the corporate bond team as a principal and senior portfolio manager, reporting to Principal Rajat Shah and focusing on global corporate portfolios. On the research side, Francisco Campos-Ortiz PhD., has been named Latin America Economist, reporting to Chief Economist Jürgen Odenius, who heads the global macroeconomic research group. Their appointments are effective immediately.

Arcieri most recently served as co-head of investment grade credit at Hartford Investment Management Company, where he managed more than $25 billion for external clients and Hartford's insurance company general account.

“Filippo brings extensive experience in sector and industry allocation, and security selection, along with a global expertise, which helps to round out our team,” said Steven Kellner, managing director and head of Prudential Fixed Income's $185 billion corporate debt portfolios. The company's corporate desk manages U.S. and global corporate debt, with team members based in Newark, N.J., and London.

Arcieri was a portfolio manager at AIG Asset Management, where he managed more than $65 billion, including the total return portfolios and part of AIG's general account. Before that, he was an analyst at Intesa-Sanpaolo Bank in New York.

Arcieri has an M.B.A. from Duke University and a bachelor's degree in economics from the University of Rome.

Campos-Ortiz, meanwhile, joins Prudential after most recently working as a research economist with the Mexican Central Bank.

“Francisco's central bank experience brings an important perspective to Prudential Fixed Income,” said Odenius. “His insight adds depth to our research capabilities and will enhance our understanding of policy-making and its impact on local markets and sovereign ratings across Latin America.”

While at the Mexican Central Bank, Campos-Ortiz authored several high-profile studies on topics such as the inflation-targeting framework and commodities, and contributed to institutional publications, including the bank's Quarterly Inflation Report. Earlier, he was an instructor at Brown University. He also served as a consultant for Soluciones Estratégicas Consulting in Mexico City, where he conducted research, including on Mexico's private pension plans.

Campos-Ortiz holds doctorate and master's degrees in economics from Brown University, earned a master's degree in public affairs from the LBJ School of Public Affairs at the University of Texas at Austin, and a bachelor's degree in economics from the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM).
