OMAHA, Neb.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Professional Werner driver Charley Endorf, of Fairbury, Neb., has been selected as a recipient of the 2014 Citizen Driver Award. The award program, presented by Travel Centers of America/Petro, recognizes professional long-haul drivers who inspire public respect and admiration for the truck driving profession.

"I was so honored to be nominated by my Werner team, and I will do my best as a winner to uphold the distinction and represent my company and industry," Endorf said. "I give a lot of credit to my wife, Kay, and thank TA/Petro for this award."

Endorf was recognized for his exemplary citizenship in the driving community, personal and professional leadership, community involvement and commitment to lead a healthy lifestyle. He was honored at a special event at the 2014 Mid-America Trucking Show, being held March 27-29 in Louisville, Ky.

Among other recognition and distinctions, Endorf will be the guest of honor May 17 in York, Neb., when a truck stop bearing his name will be unveiled. A Werner driver and owner operator since 1976, Endorf has driven more than 5 million safe driving miles, the only Werner driver to achieve this milestone.

“We have been fortunate to have Charley Endorf represent Werner Enterprises for the past 38 years,” said Derek Leathers, Werner president and chief operating officer. “As a professional driver and as a person, there is no one more deserving of this honor.”
