Tom Bergman has joined NuScale Power as Vice President, Regulatory Affairs, replacing Ed Wallace who is retiring.

In his role at NuScale, Bergman is responsible for all licenses, certifications, relationships, and activities related to the jurisdiction and authority of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC); U.S. and international client licensing support and other industry activities that involve nuclear regulatory issues.

Bergman is a 23-year veteran of the NRC. He most recently held positions as the Director, Division of Engineering in the Office of New Reactors (NRO) and Deputy Regional Administrator (Acting), Region IV. Bergman has been leading NRC reviews on many of the recent licensing activities under Part 52, including the new nuclear plants under construction in Georgia and South Carolina. Prior to that, Bergman was part of the executive team leading the reorganization of the NRC to set up of the Office of New Reactors to license new reactors.

Bergman holds an M.B.A. from the University of Maryland and a Bachelor of Science in Aerospace Engineering from the University of Michigan.
