SAN DIEGO, Calif. (PRWEB) February 17, 2014

Cubic Corporation CUB and the Walter J. and Betty C. Zable Foundation are serving as the presenting sponsors for the Presidio to Pacific Powerhouse: How the Military Shaped San Diego exhibit at the San Diego History Center. The exhibit will run April 19, 2014 to Jan. 15, 2015.

To kick off the event, a dinner will be held on April 6 on the USS Midway Museum, the annual Makers of San Diego History tribute honors individuals or industries that “have made history in their own time.” This year the San Diego History Center will honor founder, and former chairman of the board, president and chief executive officer of Cubic, Walter J. Zable and the U.S. Military in San Diego.

“We are very pleased to partner with Cubic and the Walter J. and Betty C. Zable Foundation on this major exhibition,” said the San Diego History Center's executive director, Charlotte Cagan. “Cubic embodies the pedigree of local industries who are indeed makers of San Diego history, particularly Mr. Zable, an iconic, local industrialist. For their role in our local community, as well as their presence globally as a defense system leader, they align perfectly with what we will showcase in our exhibition.”

Presidio to Pacific Powerhouse: How the Military Shaped San Diego is a 10-museum collaboration that examines the impact of the military in San Diego's past, present and future. The San Diego History Center is the exhibition's hub with nine other museums telling supplementary stories including:

  •     Coronado Historical Association and Museum of History and Art
  •     Flying Leatherneck Historical Foundation & Marine Aviation Museum
  •     Marine Corps Base Camp Pendleton
  •     Maritime Museum of San Diego
  •     MCRD Command Museum
  •     NTC at Liberty Station
  •     San Diego Air & Space Museum
  •     USS Midway Museum
  •     Veteran's Museum & Memorial Center

“We are proud of the role we've played in the evolution and innovation of the defense industry in San Diego and are excited to showcase our history of products and services at the San Diego History Center,” said William W. Boyle, chief executive officer of Cubic Corporation.
