Diana Shipping Inc. Announces Offering of Preferred Shares

ATHENS, Greece, Feb. 10, 2014 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- Diana Shipping Inc. DSX (the "Company") today announced that it intends to offer shares of its newly designated Series B Cumulative Redeemable Perpetual Preferred Shares, par value $0.01 per share, liquidation preference $25.00 per share (the "Series B Preferred Shares") in an underwritten public offering. The Company intends to grant the underwriters a 30-day option to purchase additional Series B Preferred Shares. The Company has applied to list the Series B Preferred Shares on the New York Stock Exchange under the symbol "DSXPRB."

The Company plans to use the net proceeds of the offering for general corporate purposes, which may include the repayment of debt and the acquisition of vessels.

Morgan Stanley & Co. LLC, UBS Securities LLC and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. are acting as the joint bookrunning managers for the offering.
