CHANDLER, Ariz.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Microchip Technology Inc. MCHP, a leading provider of microcontroller, mixed-signal, analog and Flash-IP solutions, today announced that the Company recently received top honors from some of the most prestigious national and local business organizations.

Microchip won the 2013 Alfred P. Sloan Award for Excellence in Workplace Effectiveness and Flexibility for the seventh straight year. This award distinguishes Microchip as one of the top practitioners of workplace flexibility in the United States, which have created exemplary workplace environments that support employees' need for flexibility. The award is part of the When Work Works flexible-workplace initiative, a partnership between the Society for Human Resource Management and the Families and Work Institute.

In keeping with its guiding value that “Employees Are Our Greatest Strength,” Microchip was selected by Training Magazine for its 2014 Training Top 125 list, which ranks companies' excellence in employer-sponsored training and development programs.

Az Business Magazine recently selected Microchip and its management for four separate honors. The Company won its 2014 Industry Leaders of Arizona Award in the Technology category. These awards recognize the contributions and impact of Arizona companies, with one annual winner in each of five key industries—commercial real estate, technology, manufacturing, entertainment and education. Companies are weighted and judged by industry standards for revenue, growth, employee count and financial health, in combination with an extensive application and interviewing process.

“Microchip is honored to be recognized by all of these prestigious organizations,” said Steve Sanghi, Microchip's president and CEO. “We attribute each of these awards to our unique company culture and guiding values, which include quality coming first in everything we do and recognizing that employees are our most valuable assets.”

Az Business Magazine also named Microchip CEO Steve Sanghi to its 2014 list of the 25 Most Influential Minority Business Leaders in Arizona, as well as its 2013 AZ Business Leaders list. Finally, Microchip was ranked in the top 10 for the 2014 edition of the annual Ranking Arizona publication, in the Manufacturing: Electronic category. Ranking Arizona is the outcome of the largest business opinion poll in Arizona, and each category is selected by the staff of Az Business Magazine for the general public to vote on.

In California, Microchip was named to the 2013 Bay Area News Top Workplaces list for the second year in a row. The Top Workplaces program is run by WorkplaceDynamics, LLC, and recognizes good employers on 30 regional lists, in conjunction with regional publishing partners that produce special sections profiling the winners (in this case, the Bay Area News). The evaluations for these lists are based purely on employee opinions, which are gathered through the proprietary WorkplaceDynamics employee survey.

In Oregon, Microchip's Fab 4 semiconductor-fabrication facility received the 2013 Gresham Area Chamber of Commerce Large Business of the Year Award for Excellence in Business. This award recognizes businesses for the advancement of the local economy, enhancement of the East Metro business climate, community outreach and excellent work with local businesses.
