SALT LAKE CITY--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

Retail Properties of America, Inc. RPAI is proud to announce an RPAI wholly owned subsidiary entered into a lease with GameWorks at The Gateway in Salt Lake City, their first location in the State of Utah.

GameWorks is an arcade-style, skill-oriented video gaming facility offering a variety of food and beverages. The new location will occupy approximately 25,000 square feet of space on the second floor between Dick's Sporting Goods and Forever 21, across from the Olympic Legacy Plaza & Fountain. GameWorks is expected to open in the fall of 2014 and will be joining retailers charming charlie and Rocket Fizz, both recently opening new stores at The Gateway.

The Gateway caters to families and children with attractions such as the Clark Planetarium and The Discovery Gateway Children's Museum, entertainment seekers with The Depot concert venue, Megaplex Theatres and IMAX, and to the younger and edgier shopper with retailers such as Bastille, Bettie Page Clothing and G-Star RAW. With such a dynamic and bold clientele, The Gateway is the perfect fit for a state of the art gaming and dining facility.

RPAI has invested over two million dollars towards The Gateway Improvement Project as part of its continued commitment to investing in our properties and the community. This includes such items as upgrading the Olympic Legacy Plaza & Fountain, new landscape and parking features, and installing inviting, soft-seating areas and benches.

“With the recently completed improvements and new tenants like GameWorks, Rocket Fizz and charming charlie, it's an exciting time for The Gateway,” said Maria Toliopoulos, senior vice president, director of leasing. “We look forward to announcing additional retailer openings and community focused events throughout 2014.”
