Glendale, CA (PRWEB) January 23, 2014

Audio-Digest Foundation (a Learner's Digest International business) has been granted Joint Accreditation by the governing bodies of the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME), the Accreditation Council for Pharmacy Education (ACPE), and the American Nurses Credentialing Center's Accreditation Program (ANCC) for a 6-year term.

Joint Accreditation by the ACCME, ACPE, and ANCC recognizes organizations who excel in advancing healthcare education quality and integrity, and who demonstrate leadership in team-based, interprofessional education and care. Previously singularly accredited by the ACCME and ANCC to provide continuing education for physicians and nursing professionals, Audio-Digest Foundation is now accredited to provide continuing education for pharmacists as well.

The ANCC, ACCME, and ACPE have commended Audio-Digest Foundation for its “vision and leadership in participating in this new Joint Accreditation process” and acknowledge the 62-year-old organization's commitment to lifelong learning in the medical professions, which helps to ensure high-quality interprofessional continuing healthcare education. Audio-Digest Foundation is one of 4 organizations in the fall 2013 cohort that have been granted Joint Accreditation, and joins 10 other organizations who have previously received this distinction.

As stated by Lon Osmond, VP/Executive Editor, “The entire Audio-Digest team is honored to be given this recognition by three global leaders in the accreditation of healthcare continuing education.” Fred Studier, CEO of Learner's Digest International, concurred, saying, “This is a wonderful validation of the quality and impact of our educational products, content, and processes on clinical excellence and patient care. More importantly, this recognition gives us an opportunity to extend the positive impact of what we do to an even wider audience of clinicians and the patients for whom they care.”

About Joint Accreditation
Joint Accreditation offers organizations the opportunity to be simultaneously accredited to provide medical, pharmacy, and nursing continuing education through a single, unified application process and set of accreditation standards. Joint Accreditation is the first and only program in the world offering this benefit. Launched in 2009, Joint Accreditation is a collaboration of the ACCME, ACPE, and ANCC.

A leading model for interprofessional collaborative practice, Joint Accreditation establishes the standards for education providers to deliver continuing education planned by the healthcare team for the healthcare team.

To be eligible for Joint Accreditation, an organization needs to demonstrate that for the previous 18 months its structure and processes to plan and present education by and for the healthcare team have been fully functional; and that at least 25% of its educational activities have been designed by and for healthcare teams. In addition, the organization must demonstrate compliance with the Joint Accreditation criteria. Jointly accredited continuing education providers must meet rigorous standards for educational quality and independence–including the ACCME Standards for Commercial SupportSM: Standards to Ensure Independence in CME Activities.
