Leading Intelligent Policy Enforcement Vendor and Industry's only Virtualized Mobile Video Optimization Platform Collaborate to Drive Next-Generation Mobile Network Efficiencies

Mountain View and Fremont, CA (PRWEB) October 24, 2013

Procera Networks, Inc. PKT, the global Internet Intelligence company, and Skyfire, a fully-owned subsidiary of Opera Software, today announced a joint solution and partnership to tackle the rapid growth of video traffic on global mobile networks, based on an open, scalable ICAP architecture. The two companies have partnered to create a flexible, deployment-ready solution around PacketLogic™ Intelligent Policy Enforcement platforms that enables mobile operators to accelerate their move toward virtualized, software-defined network architectures, and to provide deeper functional integration for advanced traffic steering of video content. The interoperable solution is already being field-trialed by a major European operator.

The joint solution is designed to bring Procera's leadership in intelligent policy enforcement together with Skyfire's cloud-based mobile video optimization solution, Rocket Optimizer™. Procera's Advanced Traffic Steering uses highly granular and accurate criteria to determine when and what video should be optimized. Together, the solution provides rapid scalability and quick time to market that is unprecedented in the industry, and provides over 2 times the boost in network capacity versus competing solutions by optimizing virtually all types of video traffic – including network-clogging HD video. This results in superior service provider economics and broadband subscriber experience.

Procera and Skyfire, joining with other industry leaders, have also modeled their solution on an open ICAP architecture, which is the most practical method to perform a robust, highly targeted software-defined instruction set. This open, standards-based architecture allows the SDN/NFV vision to be realized more quickly by mobile operators, enabling the most efficient resource utilization across both platforms when invoking the cloud for real-time video optimization.

“Skyfire's partnership with Procera shows that NFV benefits can be realized today to prove out a virtualized, cloud-based network architecture,” commented Skyfire CEO Jeff Glueck. “Our joint solution is tailor-made for the new flexible, configurable, hyper-aware and QoE-centric network model.”

“The partnership with Skyfire provides mobile service providers with a best-of-breed video optimization solution that fully takes advantage of Procera's intelligent policy enforcement capabilities,” said James Brear, president and CEO of Procera Networks. “Our ability to accurately identify all types of video traffic that we can divert to Skyfire for optimization gives our joint customers an extremely fast ROI on using our two products together.”
