Pipeline magazine today announced the winners of its prestigious 2013 COMET Innovation Awards program, which provides the highest level of objective endorsement for innovations and thought leadership in the communications and entertainment technology (COMET) industry. The awards call attention to technology advancements that shape the way we communicate as a society.
This year there were more than 130 nominations from over 70 companies in 14 categories, from which a select group of finalists were identified and presented to Pipeline's exclusive industry judging panel for final voting. The 2013 Innovation Awards judging panel is an esteemed consortium comprised of key executives from leading service providers around the world, influential industry analysts, and one of the world's largest system integrators. Each of the judges cast their vote as to which finalist they believed best demonstrated true innovation in each category.
"The COMET Awards recognize the many outstanding accomplishments of both service providers and vendors. It has been a pleasure to be able to participate as a judge for this important program as it has given me the opportunity to learn even more about the innovative, market-leading companies that provided submissions showcasing their tremendous level of innovation, technical excellence, collaboration, customer service, and more," said Deb Osswald, VP of CSP Operations for IDC.
At the request of the service provider judges who participated last year, Pipeline opened the competition to service providers as well this year, which added an interesting dynamic that recognized innovations from both technology suppliers and service providers.
“Pipeline's Innovation Awards recipients this year represented a range of true cutting edge companies—ones that I expect will continue to present the industry with new innovations,” said Craig Clausen, Principal Analysis at NPRG. “The competition among this year's finalists was tight and the judging process was particularly rigorous to identify winners across the categories. The addition of service providers proved intriguing and added a rounded perspective to the awards.”
