People4People Installs its 100th playground for Government schools in Karnataka, India

A trust that aims to put the play back into every school playground.

People4People, a trust fund established in Bangalore, is pleased to announce that it has installed 100 free playgrounds in government schools for poor children in India.

People4People was set up with an aim to make the world around it, especially for children, a little happier. One of their aims was to install playgrounds in government schools which can be accessed by children from lower socio economic strata. Since its first playground in the Thubarahally Government School, Whitefield the trust has been installing playgrounds in areas inside and outside Bangalore from Whitefield to Hoskote and beyond and also one in Tamil Nadu in a village destroyed by the Tsunami.

Dr Sunita Maheshwari a well-known Pediatric Cardiologist, Chief dreamer of Teleradiology Solutions and a founder trustee of People4People, said that it is indeed a big occasion to celebrate as she is extremely happy that People4people has been able to provide joy and happiness to the children of 100 schools. She believes “uninhibited playtime is the fundamental right of each child. The government schools in India have vast areas of unutilised land surrounding the school building and using it for a play space enhances the school experience for children”. She also explained that the trust runs on contributions from its trustees and benefactors. Since all the people involved are volunteers, its administrative costs are zero and all the funding received goes into buying and installing playgrounds for use by poor children.

The People4People trust has lifelong 80G exemption and is registered under the FCRA. It also extends its services by supporting a free clinic at RXDX Whitefield, Bangalore and by running ‘Heartstrings' which works with children with heart disease. It is also partnered with Cisco systems to pilot live interactive e-teaching in Pediatric Cardiology.
