Members and guests of the NAPW Summerville, SC Local Chapter gathered on February 15th for a morning networking meeting at Coastal Coffee Roasters, Inc. in Summerville.

The group of professional women had the opportunity to hear Author Patricia Frisch's riveting, first-hand account of living with mental illness that she chronicled in her book, “Polarized, a Bipolar Memoir.”

Summerville, SC Local Chapter President Catherine Marshall opened the meeting by welcoming everyone to the Chapter's monthly networking event. The President spoke about the importance of networking and how it has helped her grow her business.

“Networking may mean different things to each of us. Through NAPW my goal is to meet, develop, and nurture good solid relationships with people. It is primarily how I have developed my business in the last years,” she said.

The Chapter President then introduced the guest speaker, Summerville Chapter member Patricia Frisch, Ph.D. LPC, LLC. Dr. Frisch specializes in practical theology. She is a Pastoral Counselor, an Author, and a Public Speaker. She received her Ph.D. in 2003 in theology and mental health counseling from Loyola University of Maryland. Dr. Frisch spoke about her book, “Polarized, a Bipolar Memoir” and kept the audience engaged as she spoke about her life before and after she was diagnosed with bipolar illness.

“The guest speaker was a great success,” said the Chapter President. “She spoke about her book and also about spirituality.”

During the networking meeting, Catherine read the NAPW Mission Statement and invited everyone to introduce themselves, speak about their businesses and/or accomplishments, or share testimonials and other stories. The women passed around their business cards and the President distributed literature about NAPW, Carolina One Real Estate, The Barnes Group, and Dr. Frisch's book.

The group of professional women also received an update on the Charleston's Woman's Show at Omar Convention Center.

“It was a great networking event. I want to thank Sherry for lending a hand. She was a great help on Saturday and we had fun, too!” said Catherine.

At the close of the meeting, the Chapter President announced that attendees seemed to like the early morning breakfast meetings as well as the location, Coastal Coffee Roasters. In the future, the Chapter will plan a combination of monthly morning events and evening socials, too, and possibly some late afternoon socials. She asked the group for feedback on guest speakers and events.

“Thank you all for attending the February Summerville Chapter meeting. I am looking forward to the New Year and many new relationships as our Chapter continues to grow,” said Catherine.
