Former co-CEO of RIM, Jim Balsillie just sold his stake in the company according to this story from Bloomberg News.
The following are comments on this are from Tech Analyst Jeff Kagan.
“Jim Balsillie was one of the key reasons RIM was so successful looking back. He did a great job and that should never be forgotten,” says Industry Analyst Jeff Kagan. “Looking forward, however, it's a very different world. Customers want more, competitors deliver more and RIM is having a heck of a time keeping up.”
“When I see Balsillie selling all his RIM stock, I wonder if he has a sense there is something wrong with the new devices, software and company. If he does then selling makes sense. Of course he could simply be interested in separating himself from the company and has no idea of whether Blackberry will be successful going forward or not,” according to Jeff Kagan.
“Blackberry seems to be doing robust business so far in its limited debut to date. That's not much to go on yet, but at least there are not red flags waiving at this time. Let's keep hoping for the best with Blackberry for their investors, workers and of course their customers,” says Kagan.
