Liberty University has increased its college scholarship offerings for both high academic achievers and Virginia residents by nearly $9 million. Beginning with the Fall 2013 semester, Liberty is offering new scholarships for select salutatorian and valedictorians. It is also increasing its Academic Achievement scholarships and scholarship amounts awarded to Virginia residents.

The Salutatorian Scholarship and the Valedictorian Scholarship will award full tuition to 100 students (50 valedictorians and 50 salutatorians) each academic year, totaling about $4.2 million in scholarships.

“Liberty University is committed to ensuring the best and brightest are rewarded for their academic achievements,” said Chris Johnson, senior vice president for enrollment management. “These new scholarships are designed to help future Champions for Christ start pursuing their dreams and impacting the world. As Liberty continues to grow, so does its academic prowess and reputation among other institutions.”

The Academic Achievement scholarship offerings will be increased by nearly $2 million. These scholarships reward high academic success, based on cumulative GPA, as well as scores on the SAT and ACT tests.

Liberty's Virginia Scholarship will increase to $1,500 for all new students from the commonwealth. This investment, expected to be more than $2.8 million, reflects Liberty's continued commitment to staying competitive among Virginia schools.

“By offering this scholarship increase for Virginia residents, Liberty is showing its commitment to making education affordable and available to anyone, especially those who are in our own backyard,” Johnson said.

Liberty anticipates the Virginia Tuition Assistance Grant to increase, which would give even more aid to Virginia prospective students.

Liberty University, located in Lynchburg, Va., is the world's largest Christian university. Nearly 100,000 students attend classes on its 6,800-acre residential campus and study in its thriving online education program.
