Tyree Guyton Shares His Next Artistic Vision for Detroit
World-renowned artist Tyree Guyton shares his next vision for the city of Detroit, transforming the historic Brewster Buildings into a large-scale work of art.
Detroit, Michigan (PRWEB) February 05, 2013
Tyree Guyton is the creator of the Heidelberg Project located on Detroit's East Side. Guyton is known for his bright, iconic polka dots and his use of recycled materials. The Heidelberg Project has attracted visitors from around the world, and Guyton envisions the Brewster Buildings as another way to continue to draw the world to Detroit.
“I believe in transforming those buildings into something artistic, something new, something different,” said Tyree Guyton. “Right across the street is the stadium and all of this energy. Why not create new energy here?”
The city of Detroit has announced the demolition of the historic Brewster Buildings which were opened in1934 as the first public housing for African Americans. The Brewster Buildings are located in Brush Park and currently remain standing.
