Vishwaroopam to Hit Screens in Tamil Nadu; Fans Rejoice

Kamal Haasan has announced the date of release of his film ‘Vishwaroopam' February 7th. The movie will be opened in Tamil Nadu after a court ordered ban. Kamal Haasan has thanked his fans, Tamil Nadu Chief Minister and Muslim community for assisting in release of the movie, reports Tamilstar.com.

After a long battle and much debate, Tamil movie star Kamal Hasan's latest movie ‘Vishwaroopam' has been cleared to play in Tamil Nadu. Kamal Haasan made the announcement today that ‘Vishwaroopam' will be released on February 7th. He released a statement thanking fans who have maintained patience with regard to issues surrounding this movie, the cine professionals who stood by him during trouble and the media which raised voice in support.

As Muslim outfits protested against ‘Vishwaroopam', a ban was imposed upon release of the movie in Tamil Nadu. Chief Minister Jayalalithaa announced that the government would give assistance if Kamal Haasan and Muslims don't find an amicable solution.

An agreement was met after a tripartite discussion held in Chennai Fort. The decision in the agreement was that the movie can be released and the ban was lifted. Cases also filed in other courts were dropped. Soon after Kamal Haasan stated that he will announce the date of the release.

‘Vishwaroopam' has been well received by the international community and has been a big hit for Kamal Hassan. Often facing problems for some of its content, ‘Vishwaroopam' has done well for itself. It has been playing to packed theatres in Canada, U.S, Malaysia, U.K and other countries. ‘Vishwaroopam' was also received well in North India. Some felt that it will garner more trouble in the North but it has been playing without any major disturbance. There has been some minor issues but overall audience are appreciating the movie and plot.

With is strong showing in other places, it will be interesting to how the Tamils receive this movie and if they agree with their Muslim brothers. But by gauging the welcome so far, it will be safe to say that the Tamils will support the movie and make it much bigger hit.
