Tool reduces costs needed to deliver desired rating.

London (PRWEB UK) 23 January 2013

Integrated Environmental Solutions (IES), a provider of integrated performance analysis software and consulting services for sustainable building design and operation, today announce that contractor firm Bouygues UK is successfully using its online project management tool, IES TaP as its official standard for managing BREEAM and CSH Assessments.

The requirement to use the tool is now a part of the scope of works for all Buoygues UK BREEAM and CSH assessors, in order to make sure they meet their contractual obligations on time. To reduce the cost of achieving a high sustainability rating for clients, and the need for costly amendments later on, IES TaP is now deployed at the start of each and every Bouygues project.

Aleksandra Njagulj, Senior Sustainable Design Co-ordinator at Bouygues UK, says “Without the right management processes, achieving a BREEAM or CSH certification can be a long arduous process.”

She explains, “With up to 120 credits required for an Outstanding certification and each credit requiring manifold documentation as evidence, a particular problem was keeping track of which team member was responsible for each of the thousands of pieces of evidence required and pulling the documents together. Going forward, we needed a much more efficient process to take the pain out of BREEAM Certification.”

“The transparent way IES TaP shows us where we are against target has helped us to eliminate the risk of a project failing to achieve the desired sustainability rating,” says Njagulj. “In the past, sometimes 0% of a BREEAM or CSH assessment had been completed prior to construction. But now thanks to the way IES TaP enables us to manage the process and clarify exactly what's required to achieve each credit, all of our projects have achieved at least 40-50% of the total credits available before the project enters RIBA stage E.”

She adds, “As we only need to achieve 70% of the total credits available to attain an excellent rating, that means our Design Stage BREEAM assessments are two thirds complete before we even start detail design”.

Looking to the future Bouygues say the next step is to roll out IES TaP across the rest of the Bouygues Group, which currently operates across 80 different countries. They are also in the process of making the tool the standard by which they manage BREEAM assessments at its recently acquired companies, Warings and Leadbitter.
