The interactive event, entitled “Change Orders: The Bane of All Construction Projects,” is suited for various professionals within the construction community, including public and private owners, construction managers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants, construction law attorneys, architects, and engineers.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) January 18, 2013

Within one week, WPL Publishing will host a webinar to help construction professionals understand how to avoid or resolve change-order claims and disputes in their projects.

The webinar will provide valuable information on change orders, construction change directives, cardinal changes, abandonment, contract modification, and managing change. Attendees will gain a clear understanding of these concepts and how they apply to an owner, contractor, subcontractor, lender, and surety. To register for the 90-minute event, which is scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 24, 2013, at 1:00 p.m. (EST), visit http://tinyurl.com/bzzwn85.

Webinar attendees will learn how to do the following:

  • Recognize the three axioms of construction change.
  • Identify typical change-order concepts and types of changes.
  • Determine the role of an owner, architect, contractor, subcontractor, lender, and surety.
  • Recognize the causes of change.
  • Explain the total cost method and modified total cost method.
  • Avoid or resolve change-order claims and disputes.

Addressing attendees will be Robert “Mike” Cathcart and Bryan Jackson, both partners in the Los Angeles office of Allen Matkins Leck Gamble Mallory & Natsis LLC.

With more than 28 years of construction litigation experience, Cathcart's practice increasingly has concentrated on construction and real-estate disputes involving Pacific Rim developers, contractors, and design professionals. He has developed a strong expertise in handling all forms of alternative dispute resolution proceedings.

Jackson is a national expert in drafting and negotiating construction and design professional contracts for all project types, including hospitals, sports facilities, universities, hotels, high-rise office buildings, and more. He is an adjunct professor at the University of Southern California. His courses have included “Construction Management and Technology” and “Construction Law” for the Master of Real Estate Development program.

Following their presentations, there will be an interactive 10-to-15 minute question-and-answer session addressing relevant topics.

Webinar tuition is based on location, not number of participants, so each registration site can have multiple participants for one low price. To register, visit http://tinyurl.com/bzzwn85.
