Bohemia, NY (PRWEB) January 17, 2013

On January 17, Quorn Foods Inc. comments on an article published on the Consumer Affairs website about new ways to eat healthy for the New Year.

Quorn representative David Wilson said he realizes how difficult it can be to stick to New Year's resolutions, especially when it means being healthy. “People get into habits and when the New Year comes they suddenly think they're going to easily change,” Wilson said. “But you have to really want to change and you have to work with it. Ease off the junk food instead of cutting it out completely and add new super foods to your diet.”

According to the article published by Consumer Affairs, kale and quinoa are two very versatile super foods that can make an impact on your health. One cup of kale surpasses your daily intake of Vitamin A, C and K by a significant amount.

“Kale is one of the best cancer-fighting foods out there, but most people consider it to be a vegetarian-only type of plant and tend to shy away from it because they think it's seaweed,” Wilson said. “It's really just a tasty green that everyone should add to their diet.”

The article also recommended going meatless at least one day each week. This could lower your risk of chronic diseases. Consumer Affairs reports that many celebrities have also taken to this “meatless Monday” trend, including Biggest Loser's Bob Harper and even the Food Network's chef Giada De Laurentiis. According to the article, adding a surplus of fruits and vegetables to your diet is a good way to help combat diabetes and other illnesses.

“Going meatless is a good idea,” Wilson said. “If you're one of those people who can't seem to shake the habit of eating meat, you can always try a meat substitute.. If you have a sweet tooth, try substituting your craving with fruit. Some fruits have a ton of sugar, but it is good sugar, not the processed kind you see in cakes or cookies . Vegetables are always good because they are high in fiber and vitamins, which most people don't get in their regular diets.”

Wilson concluded by saying “healthy food is not something you should sneer at. It's a necessary way to stay healthy, reduce your chance of developing a life-threatening disease and to change your life. “

Quorn Foods launched nationally in the US in 2002. Unlike other vegetarian food companies, Quorn foods use mycoprotein: a naturally occurring, healthy form of protein that replicates the taste and texture of meat while being significantly lower in saturated fats and calories. Quorn Foods offer a wide range of products including ready to serve meals, food for your barbecue, breaded meat substitutes, snacks and components to make your own meals from scratch. The wonderful taste of Quorn meatless meals provides the taste of the foods you love without sacrificing nutrition.
