Oren Alexander Receives Colel Chabad Young Leaders Award
Alexander is Proud to Accept Honor for Outstanding Leadership Qualities
NEW YORK CITY (PRWEB) January 17, 2013
This past Sunday, Oren Alexander gave an acceptance speech after being awarded the Young Leaders Award at the Colel Chabad ‘Two Centuries' Dinner, which commemorated the 200th Yahrzeit of the founder of Colel Chabad, the Alter Rebbe, Rabbi Schneur Zalman of Liadi.
The Colel Chabad Young Leaders Award is given to young community members whose outstanding leadership qualities and involvement with Chabad personify the fundamental beliefs of Chabad, namely tzedakah, or charity.
In his speech, Oren said, “According to Jewish tradition, the spiritual benefit of giving charity so great is that the one who gives benefits even more than the recipient.”
Introduced to Chabad by his parents, Oren's involvement with this organization runs deep. After having become a successful real estate broker, Oren stayed true to his roots and his traditions, becoming ever more aware of the need to give back.
“As I grew up, I began to understand more the importance and need to give. Without giving I found, whether it is my family, my home, my business, or my country, nothing can flourish,” says Oren.
Newark Mayor Cory Booker also gave a speech. Other notable attendees included Len and Alex Blavatnik, Ken Dichter, Russell Galbut, and Casey Klein.
Founded in 1788, Colel Chabad is the oldest, continuously operating charity of its kind in Israel, providing dental and medical clinics, food banks and soup kitchens, daycare centers, interest-free loans, career training, job placement, and a host of other social welfare services to the communities it operates in.
Oren Alexander is the Senior Vice President of Douglas Elliman Real Estate and Co-Founder of The Alexander Group.
