Prescription discount card can be a useful tool to save money on health care expenses during cold and flu season.

Ponte Vedra Beach, FL (PRWEB) January 15, 2013

The providers of Coast2Coast Rx, a free discount prescription card, announced today that the program has saved residents of Florida's Lee County more than $5.5 million on prescription medications since it was approved by the Board of County Commissioners and launched in October 2010.

Coast2Coast Rx is a no-cost, comprehensive program that collectively saves consumers nationwide millions of dollars on thousands of prescriptions and additional health services. The easy-to-use card has an additional benefit—each time it is used to fill a prescription, $1.25 is generated to help subsidize public programs in Lee County.

Coast2Coast Rx is the prescription card of choice for Lee County and about 280 other governmental entities, with the potential to help constituents manage their health care needs and save money on needed prescriptions while effortlessly generating revenue for their communities.

“With an average savings of more than 60 percent in Lee County since we launched the program locally, the card has allowed residents to save significantly on prescriptions that they might not otherwise be able to afford,” said Chief Marketing Officer Marty Dettelbach of Financial Marketing Concepts, Inc., the providers of the Coast2Coast Rx card. “In the face of challenging economic conditions every dollar saved is one that makes a difference to individuals and families who may be struggling with other household bills.”

All consumers, regardless of age, income or health status, are eligible to use the card, including uninsured and underinsured consumers; those currently paying high deductibles and who require a prescription not covered by their insurance. For some consumers, the card may even help relieve costs of the Medicare Part D “donut hole.” With savings of up to 75 percent on more than 60,000 brand name and generic prescriptions, the Coast2Coast Rx card is accepted at 59,000+ participating pharmacies nationwide. Consumers can also select from partner providers to receive discounts on diabetes supplies, services such a lab and imaging, vision, dental and hearing care and even pet prescriptions and veterinary care. Recently Coast2Coast Rx announced that its card can now be used at participating pharmacies for discounts on seasonal flu vaccines.

With no membership paperwork required, residents can simply pick up a card from locations around the county or download and print a card from the Coast2Coast website. The Shelby County Coast2Coast Rx card is available to print at http://www.coast2coastrx.com/counties/fl/lee/ for immediate savings on prescription costs. Consumers are invited to join the conversation by visiting the health care blog on the Coast2Coast Rx website and to add Coast2Coast Rx to their social networks on Facebook and Twitter.
