Open Access Science Publisher Frontiers Adopts ReadCube Web Reader for Interactive PDF Reading

Open-access publisher of interdisciplinary science journals announces the integration of the ReadCube Web Reader for all of its peer-reviewed online journals.

Frontiers, open-access publisher of interdisciplinary science journals, today announced the new integration of the ReadCube Web Reader for all of its peer-reviewed online journals. ReadCube is the flagship product of Labtiva, a Boston based company, supported by Digital Science. The integration enhances the reading experience for Frontiers journal articles, by combining the print-quality reading experience of PDFs with the enhanced interactivity and wealth of related content currently available only when reading articles online.

The elements of ReadCube's enhanced PDF include annotation tools, hyperlinked in-line citations, and clickable author names that initiate searches to quickly find related articles. In an effort to best serve the Frontiers community, Labtiva customized the web reader so that hyperlinked author names also link to the author's profile page in the Frontiers Research Network. The ReadCube Web Reader can save articles, enhancements, and annotations to the free ReadCube desktop reference manager for PCs and Macs. ReadCube Desktop automatically imports, builds and curates the user's personal library of academic literature, organizing it by tags and topics. It can also rapidly acquire articles without the hassles of repeatedly entering login information or visiting multiple web pages. It discovers new published literature through intuitive search tools and an optional recommendation system based on reading habits.
