Coast2Coast Rx Saves Hinds County Residents More Than $1 Million with Prescription Discount Program

Discount program saves residents money while generating funds for county services.

Coast2Coast Rx announced today that residents of Hinds County, Miss. have saved more than $1.1 million on prescription drug costs since adopting the discount program in August 2010.

The Hinds County Board of Supervisors partnered with Coast2Coast Rx to provide constituents with a free resource with multiple benefits that include: improving their health outcomes by getting the prescriptions they need, saving money and even creating revenue for public programs. Coast2Coast Rx card provides significant savings on more than 60,000 prescription drugs and other health care services; and for each prescription filled using the card, Hinds County receives $1.25. These benefits have made the Coast2Coast Rx program the prescription discount card of choice for about 280 governmental entities nationwide.

By using the Coast2Coast Rx card, consumers can save up to 75 percent on prescriptions; a significant benefit to the uninsured, but also helpful for those facing the expense of needed prescriptions with insufficient coverage or high deductibles under a current plan. In some cases seniors using Medicare may be able to use the card to relieve the costs of the Part D “donut hole.” Through partner programs, discounts on certain dental, vision, hearing, lab services, diabetes supplies, and even pet prescriptions and veterinary services are available.

More than 59,000 pharmacies nationwide accept the card, including major chains and many independent establishments. With no paper work to fill out, no membership requirements and no expiration date, the card allows immediate savings on medications and certain healthcare services.
