College students can earn a share of $9,000 with real estate investment-minded moves that can turn a profit.

Boca Raton, Florida (PRWEB) January 04, 2013

Calling all future and/or aspiring real estate investors.

Foreclosure.com today announced that its successful scholarship program will return for a fifth consecutive year in 2013, rewarding five more college students across the United States with a share of $9,000 to put toward their higher educations.

Scholarships will be awarded to eligible college students who can best provide a solution(s) to its latest essay topic for 2013. The subject of the 2013 Foreclosure.com Scholarship Program is as follows:

"You've been tasked with analyzing two foreclosure properties to determine which one is a better investment. Many factors come into play, including cost, location, renovations (if necessary/desired) and local market conditions, among others. The goal is to maximize profit, whether it is a buy, hold or flip strategy over the short- and/or long-term. Please select a property (sample properties provided on website), provide reasons that support the decision, detail your investment strategy, describe all that you would do (improvements, rehab, etc.) and how it would impact your potential bottom line."

Foreclosure.com, which received thousands of entries from students throughout the nation in 2012, will accept written essays/investment plans (800-word minimum, 2,000-word maximum) through its website (http://www.foreclosure.com/scholarship) from Jan. 4, 2013, to Dec. 15, 2013.

Five winners will be selected by a third-party panel of judges at the conclusion of the contest and will share $9,000 in allotted scholarship funds. The top prize is a $5,000 scholarship and four $1,000 grants will be awarded to the runners up.

“With college tuition costs rising, this scholarship has been a blessing to those who have done their homework and written their essays,” said Foreclosure.com Director of Education, Linda Yates. “Each year, we look forward to reviewing the impressive submissions that pour in from throughout the nation. And 2013, with a topic that challenges students' analytic and creative writing abilities, is no different.”

In addition to the five cash prizes in the form of scholarships, totaling $9,000, these investment plans will be featured on Foreclosure.com for the entire year. All students must read and agree to the scholarship rules, which are located on the Foreclosure.com contest page (http://www.foreclosure.com/scholarship), before submitting their entries for review.

Foreclosure.com introduced its scholarship program in 2009. Since that time, the company will (or has) award(ed) 20 deserving college students throughout the United States with a total of $36,000 in scholarship money to date.
