Sherrod brings considerable experience and proven performance within the correctional community to the CCA team.
Sayre, OK (PRWEB) January 03, 2013
"I am excited to join the CCA team and family," said Sherrod. "CCA has a rich history of being a pioneer and leader in building strong partnerships in the corrections industry."
Sherrod has spent the last 25 years working in the corrections profession. Most recently, he served as Chief Executive Officer and Complex Warden, with 700 professional staff under his supervision, at the Federal Bureau of Prisons (BOP) Federal Correctional Complex and United States Penitentiary in Pollock, Louisiana.
"I have been successful in corrections by remembering that safety and security is the bread and butter of what we do each day," said Sherrod. "And what we do inside these fences is essential to public safety."
After attending Oklahoma State University, Sherrod began his career as a correctional officer in Fort Worth, TX. He went on to become a warden for various BOP facilities in Colorado, Illinois and Louisiana.
A proven leader, Sherrod forged a path committed to excellence in corrections and national service. In 2007, the U.S. Attorney General appointed Sherrod as a member to the United States Senior Executive Service, until his retirement from the BOP in 2011.
Returning to the state of his alma mater, Sherrod and his wife Shelly will reside in Sayre, OK. They have two children, daughter Sharayah and son Skyler.
"I believe a strong family is important for us as staff, and for our inmate population to see lived out in us each day," said Sherrod. "We all need a strong support system and I believe that CCA believes that too."
