In September 2011, the Company delivered the first production model of its new flagship aircraft, the 787 Dreamliner.  The 787 is one of the most advanced commercial jets in the world and each aircraft costs over $200 million.

On January 16, 2013, as a result of problems with the 787's internal lithium-ion battery system, the FAA grounded all 787's in the United States.  The Japanese Transport Ministry, the Indian DGCA, the European Aviation Safety Agency, and the Chile DGAC also subsequently grounded all 787's in their respective jurisdictions. 

Development of the 787 Dreamliner was plagued with a variety of problems and delays.  Recent media reports suggest that even as the 787 went into production, concerns persisted over the safety and reliability of the lithium-ion battery system.

Our investigation concerns whether the Boeing board of directors has breached its fiduciary duties to shareholders, grossly mismanaged the Company, and/or committed abuses of control in connection with the foregoing.
