BOSTON, Jan. 29, 2013 (GLOBE NEWSWIRE) -- EnerNOC, Inc. ENOC, a leading provider of energy management applications, today announced that Australian electricity retailer ERM Power will provide DemandSMART™, EnerNOC's comprehensive demand response application, and EfficiencySMART™, EnerNOC's software-as-a-service (SaaS) energy efficiency application, to its customers.

Under the terms of this agreement, ERM Power will manage customer recruitment and contracting activities with its commercial, industrial, and institutional customers in the Australian National Electricity Market (NEM). EnerNOC will provide its cloud-based software applications and EnerNOC's Utility Solutions™ team will serve as the program implementer, performing site audits and enablement services, supplying all necessary equipment, and supporting the program through its Network Operations Centers (NOCs), including its newest NOC in Melbourne, Victoria.

"EnerNOC's Utility Solutions offerings have traditionally focused on providing utilities with turnkey demand response and energy efficiency resources, including everything from sales and marketing to enablement and delivery, but our cloud-based approach makes it easy for innovative companies like ERM Power to offer a branded experience, leveraged by the extensibility of the EnerNOC platform," said Tim Healy, Chairman and CEO of EnerNOC.

ERM Power is the first electricity retailer in Australia to adopt EnerNOC's demand-side management (DSM) software to help its customers manage energy consumption.

"ERM Power has grown to become Australia's fourth largest seller of electricity in the National Electricity Market by providing consistently outstanding service to our customers," said Mitch Anderson, CEO Electricity Sales, ERM Power.

"We were ranked the number one electricity retailer in Australia for customer service to businesses last year. Our goal is to retain that market-leading position by providing quality services to our customers, like EnerNOC's state-of-the-art energy management software and enablement services.

"EnerNOC's Utility Solutions applications and expertise in integrated demand-side management help us to actively manage costs and pass those savings onto our customers. The visualization tools and analytical features of EnerNOC's solutions will help us actively engage our customers in our DSM programs and enable them to use energy more efficiently and further reduce their energy expenditure."

Using EnerNOC's Utility Portal, ERM Power's traders will dispatch customer demand response resources to mitigate price spikes in the NEM, helping to lower costs for all ERM Power customers. In addition, the company can monitor its customers' performance in real time to ensure that energy reduction targets are being met. DemandSMART also gives customers participating in the program access to their real-time energy data and dispatch performance data through a web portal and mobile/tablet applications.

Beyond demand response, ERM Power has licensed EnerNOC's EfficiencySMART Insight software to provide its customers with additional energy management functionality such as customizable dashboards, reports, and alerts. Importantly, EfficiencySMART's alerting features will help ERM Power customers reduce their exposure to network charges, which typically make up about half of end-users' electricity bills.

EnerNOC's Utility Solutions offerings provide program implementation services and consulting services to system operators, utilities and electricity suppliers worldwide. By advising these entities on customer engagement and program design, and by delivering demand response and energy efficiency implementation services in an integrated manner, EnerNOC supports utility efforts to deliver demand-side management programs efficiently and cost-effectively.
