Hybrid Conference Explores the Problem With Government Conferences

WASHINGTON--(BUSINESS WIRE)--

On February 7, seven leading communicators will convene to discuss the future of government conferences.

Titled “Government Conferences: Now What? Succeeding in Challenging Economic and Regulatory Times,” this virtual, or hybrid, conference is sponsored by the National Center for Supercomputing Applications at the University of Illinois, the Senior Executives Association, the National Association of Government Communicators, and two local companies: ICS-Nett and Hybrid Conferences.

In the past year, vitally important government conferences have come under fire, financially and politically. Yet while budgets shrink, the mandate to communicate with constituents has never been stronger. This free, two-hour event will explore ways for government to meet and exceed that mandate.

Participants include:

  • Barbara Pinto, formerly of ABC Network News, who will moderate
  • Jay M. Cohen, RADM, USN (Retired), former Under Secretary for Science and Technology at the Department of Homeland Security
  • Carol Bonasaro, President, The Senior Executives Association
  • John Verrico, President-Elect, The National Association of Government Executives
  • Theo Mayer, President, Tech Applications, and Co-Founder of Hybrid Conferences
  • Dan Dubno, President, Blowing Things Up, and former technology correspondent and producer for CBS News
  • Cecily Sommers, Author of Think Like a Futurist and contributor to NPR's All Things Considered
