Groovideo recently launched its collaborative video tool allowing a group of friends to record and automatically edit videos without the hassle of editing.

Groovideo's web and iPhone apps, launched out of Silicon Valley Accelerator UpWest Labs, will enable groups to create videos while each person recording their own video segment separately. The application then automatically collects the different videos and edits them into one collaborative video, aiming to simplify the process while integrating fun effects and soundtrack.

As the holidays creep up, everyone seems to be looking for new and innovative ways to let loved ones know that they care. Thus, Groovideo is providing our users with new, high-tech ways to celebrate and connect with friends and family both locally and around the world. 

The idea for Groovideo came from the founders' personal attempt to assemble videos with friends for a special occasion. They quickly realized that they needed to schedule, record, and finally work long hours to edit the video. One more challenge was that some of their friends were scattered around the world making it difficult to implement.

Groovideo offers a simple solution to creating group videos. Users select the content they want in the video from a template of music and elements, and send Facebook invitations to friends who are then instructed on what to record.

These instructions, designed to simplify the video editing process, relay the specific nature of the video greeting and the allotted time frame to record. Each invitee records their own part using their mobile devices, and with each new participant joining the video is automatically reedited into a new video featuring them inside.

Groovideo's unique editing algorithm combines both high-end image prepossessing algorithms and special editing heuristics. The team worked with top-notch video editors and created different kind of templates and editing algorithms for different kinds of videos. The end result is very unique and it can be automatically reedited into different kinds of videos from the same footage.
